Credit Union Quiz – Eanáir 2024

We are delighted to participate in the Gorey Credit Union Quiz every year. This is a great opportunity for our pupils to represent the school in the area of general knowledge. Well done to our junior and senior quiz teams as they competed on Friday January 26th in the Ashdown Park Hotel. Our junior team put in a great performance and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our senior team finished in 2nd place overall and have made it to the next round. Hopefully, their positive experience with the competition can spur our younger pupils to get involved with our Quiz Club in the school. Please see a short summary piece from Hannah who took part in the competition.

The quiz was really fun and nerve racking all at once. When I walked in I got really nervous because I really wanted to win a trophy to be honest. I sat down at the table and took in what the room looked like. It was big and crowded. So many people had come! Everybody started to settle down and the person who was calling out the questions begun. I think the first question was ‘How many days are in a fortnight’ it wasn’t too hard and I think everybody in the room got it. As we went on the rounds got harder and harder. One of the questions was ‘what is the lair under the earths crust called?’ I don’t think my team got that. I should probably say who was in the Ballygarrett teams. In the U11’s there was myself, Tadhg, Cillian , and Séan. In the U13’s there is Matthew, Robin, George and Maryanne. In the end my team didn’t win but U13’s did. It was such a great experience and I wish I could do it again!
