Our Active School Committee have lots of responsibility in our school. See this years committee members below:
Their jobs include to join an Active school meeting each month, give messages and notifications at assemblies, check the suggestion box, update the notice board, give messages between classes, assist with sports day, take leadership in 10 @ 10 and such initiatives, prepare Active Arnie, take care of the P.E. equipment, carry our surveys and be good role models for their classmates.
Our school invites different sports clubs/physical activity providers from the local community to visit our school during the year and during Active School Week!
Local clubs:
We are an active group of students and are members in many local clubs. The senior classes completed a ‘What Club Are You In?’ survey and take a look at the variety of clubs our students are involved in.
We have teamed up with our Parents Association and Macamore Wheelers to fundraise much needed funds for our school for a lovely new playground and markings through a sponsored cycle and a 5km walk.
During the school year we encourage partnership with our local Tidy Towns Committee and the students take part in an annual Spring Clean of our school grounds, local area and beaches.
Furthermorem we have taster lessons from different clubs and associations throughout the year, such as Dance, Tag Rugby, GAA, Visits from the Gardaí and Search and Rescue to promote road and water safety.
We also promote integration in lessons to include walking trails for subjects such as Maths, History, Geography and Science.
