Concern Debate 2023

This year Rang a Sé are participating in Concern Debates. Our team consists of Eoghan Murphy, Senan Power and Ella Shortt.

On Wednesday November 8th we had our first -round debate against Castletown NS.

The motion of the debate was ‘Every child in Ireland should have the right to a local playground’. Our team was opposing the motion.

The debate took place via zoom. George O’Connor and Ellie McEvoy acted as our timekeepers.

Each of us spoke for three minutes. As Eoghan was the captain, he spoke once again at the end of the debate to summarise our arguments.

Debating is challenging because as well as developing our own arguments we had to think on the spot and rebuttal against our opponents.

Luckily, the motion was defeated. This means we were victorious against Castletown NS.

Our next debate is this Thursday 30th of November against Horeswood NS. The motion is ‘Getting rid of plastic in our oceans is a dream’. We are opposing the motion. Wish us luck!
