In Senior Infants, we have been busy recently with Literacy Lift Off, Playful Learning Experiences and new topics such as The Café and The Estate Agent. In our class, we have a play based and themed approach to our learning. Lots of our learning in literacy and numeracy occurs through stations where children work in groups to develop their oral language skills, vocabulary and problem solving skills. We have seasonal themes such as Christmas, Easter and Halloweèn, together with other themes from the world around us such as Houses and Homes, Camping and The Garden Centre.
Much of our work in Senior Infants also develops our reading skills and numeracy skills. Lots of our lessons involve working together and having fun. We work hard and try our best and we have lots of smiles along the way. Senior Infants is a happy class, where we all belong and respect each other.
At times, we welcome children from other classes, and other teachers into our class to help us learn. We also sometimes welcome visitors who speak to the class. We are a very curious and creative class and we investigate things like shadows and magnets in science and celebrate special days with making things like St Brigid`s crosses and cards. We love to create and construct and we are always learning from the world around us.
We use our maths eyes to see number, shape and other maths all around us and we are improving our reading and writing skills all the time. We love to discover new ideas and information and we love to explore. We also love to work together in groups and roleplay during our learning stations.
This year, we have welcomed three new classmates and lots of visitors into our class.
