Maths: Maths is one of our favourite subjects. Whether its copying, growing and extending patterns, engaging in coding on the chrome books, visiting the maths fair or going on a maths trail around the school – we enthusiastically embrace it all!
English Procedural Writing: In term two we explored procedural writing, how to structure a recipe and the importance of choosing appropriate bossy verbs. We had great fun following a recipe to make delicious sausage rolls! Integrating baking and English makes learning so tasty!
Geography: We adore learning in the outdoor classroom. Recently we went on a wonderful spring hunt down into the village spotting wildflowers and different species of birds. As part of Creative Schools, we have also constructed a willow den in the school yard.
Art: Every Monday we let our creative juices flow! Together with Ms McNiven we have been creating in fabric and fibre. We constructed pom-poms using wool and we used needles to construct heart cushions. We also made easter nests with clay.
Music: Every Wednesday we take park in Music Generation with Karen. We adore singing songs from many different genres. Currently we are learning how to play numerous songs on the Glockenspiel.
Community Garda Visit: We had a community garda visit our class. She told us numerous ways that the Gardai protect our community. We even got to try on the Garda hat and jacket.
India: In Geography lessons we learned all about India. Evaniya’s mum came into the classroom to tell us more about their culture, their food and their festivals. It’s safe to say that many of us are excited about visiting India one day!
Chess: Chess is a very popular hobby in our class. We adore playing inside and on our amazing tables outside. So far this year we have taken part in a friendly tournament with Ballycanew National School.
