2nd Class
September:
September was a busy month for 2nd Class. We took a trip to the clubhouse for a talk about the history of the GAA club from Mick Byrne. We learned all about how much sugar is in our food, spent time reading outside, took a trip to Courtown Woods, learned how to log in and use the internet on our Chromebooks and started Hurling 365 on Friday mornings.
October:
We explored all about farms in the past for history, made sticky slime for science, did some chat & draw for mindfulness and even had many maths lessons outside with the chalk. We were very lucky to be selected for a Green Schools Hi-Vis relay race and we were definitely the spookiest class for Halloween dress up day!
November:
We started typing practice on book creator, took a whole school survey on eye colour for our data topic and had plenty of fun building with Lego.
December:
We were busy practicing for our Christmas performance, but still had time to invite 3rd class in for some STEM stations and take a trip to 6th class for Christmas kahoot quiz.
January:
We started our first group project all about Australia and created fantastic aboriginal art. We then completed our first individual project on the counties of Ireland. We started our gymnastics for PE and had a visit from Ireland rugby player, Aoife Wafer.
February:
We started February off with a scooter workshop, got all loved up for Valentine’s Day and weighed everything in sight for our weight maths topic.
March:
We had great fun with seachtain na gaeilge, had delicious pancakes, learned a whole class Irish Dance and how to play football rounders. We planted flowers and ordered some books from the book fair.
