Christmas Decoration Competition

Every year our school enters the Wexford County Council Christmas Decoration Competition. The competition is open to all classes and this year  the children created some fantastic decorations. The idea is that each decoration must be made from bits and pieces which would otherwise be put in the bin. It teaches us how easy it is to reuse things and encourages the children to use their creativity.

The judges had a very tough time making a choice but eventually they compiled a list of the entries to go forward for the competition.

1st Class:  Áine Lawless – “The Nativity” made from shoebox with cardboard star.

3rd Class:  Kevin Redmond – “Santa’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Sleigh” made from bottle, pipes, cotton wool, old sweet bag and cardboard

4th Class:  Eve Casey – “The Woolly Wreath” made from wool, buttons, cardboard badge

5th Class :  Therese Lawless – “A Cosy Christmas” made from photo frame, egg carton and cardboard stockings

6th Class:  Emily Kirkland – “The Carol Singers” made from old socks, cardboard, cotton wool, and toilet roll holders.

Best of luck to all our entrants.

The good news is that all decorations will be on display in An Síolán on Thursday the 10th of December at an event hosted by the Ballygarrett Tidy Town’s Committee.
